- Use a soft measuring tape and wrap it around the fullest part of your head just above the eyebrows and ears keeping it level all the way around.
- Take the measurement in centimeters (cm).
A helmet needs to fit snug but comfortably, with cheek pads in contact with the cheekbones and no large gaps. If your measurement sits between sizes, trying the smaller size first is often recommended, but helmet pads and liners can adjust the fit.
| Size | Head Circumference (cm) |
|---|---|
| Youth SM (Youth Small) | 49 – 50 cm |
| Youth MD (Youth Medium) | 50 – 51 cm |
| Youth LG (Youth Large) | 51 – 52 cm |
| Youth XL | 52 – 53 cm |
To measure correctly: Use a soft tape measure and wrap it around the widest part of the head, just above the eyebrows and ears.
Match that measurement to the size chart above.
If you are unsure of sizing always aim for a snug fitting helmet. Firm around the cheeks with no gaps between the padding and the rider is best!
To find the proper glove size, measure the circumference around your dominant hand while holding all of your fingers apart and out stretched.
Do not include your thumb in this measurement and measure lower than all of your knuckles (be careful not to measure too far forward on your pinky finger side as this knuckle is further back).
Remember if your gloves are too loose they will bunch and give you blisters so aim for a tight fit!
Adults:

Your helmet is the most important piece of safety gear you will wear while riding. Making sure it fits correctly is essential for both comfort and protection.
Helmets are typically sized XS–2XL, with each size covering a small range of head circumferences in centimetres (cm).
Follow these steps:
Use a cloth tape measure.
Wrap it around your head horizontally.
Measure about 1 inch (2–3 cm) above your eyebrows and ears.
Record the circumference of your head in centimetres.

| M | 57–58 cm |
| L | 59–60 cm |
| XL | 61–62 cm |
| 2XL | 63–64 cm |
Keep in mind that helmet shapes vary between brands, and everyone’s head shape is slightly different.

Before You Start
- Check that each graphic matches the correct plastic before removing the backing paper.
- Lay the graphics over your plastics first to confirm the shape and fit.
Remove Old Graphics
- Warm the existing graphics with a hairdryer or heat gun on a low to medium setting.
- Slowly peel them away at a 90° angle.
- Remove any leftover adhesive using isopropyl alcohol or mineral turpentine.
Prepare the Surface
For the best results, clean the plastics thoroughly using:
- Isopropyl alcohol
- Vinyl prep
- Brake or contact cleaner
Make sure the surface is completely clean, dry, and free of dirt, oil, dust, and adhesive residue before applying your new graphics.
Apply Your Graphics
- Position each graphic carefully before pressing it down.
- If needed, use a small amount of heat from a hairdryer or heat gun to help the graphic conform to curves.
- Avoid overheating the material.
After Installation
- Check your graphics the following day for any edges that may have lifted.
- If needed, apply gentle heat and firmly press the edges back down.
- We recommend waiting 72 hours before riding to allow the adhesive to fully bond.
Important Information
Incorrect installation is not covered under warranty. If you notice any issues with the quality of your graphics kit, please contact us before fitting or riding.
Keep in mind that dirt bikes are built to be ridden, so normal wear and tear to your graphics over time is expected.

Do you know how often to replace the drive chain of your dirt bike? Read on to discover the secrets and learn how to get the maximum life out of your chain and sprockets.
There are predominantly 3 sizes of chains for all dirt bikes no matter what age or size the bike is. A ‘520’ chain will fit most full sized dirt bikes on the market. From a 125 through to a big bore KTM 525 they all predominantly share this size. Smaller bikes such as 85cc MX bikes will run a ‘428’ and only 50cc MX bikes will go as low as a ‘420’.
We recommend always replacing your sprockets at the same time as replacing your chain as a new chain on worn sprockets will shorten the lifespan of the chain. The first step to installing a new chain is to adjust your rear wheel chain tensioning blocks as far in as possible. This will allow plenty of room to tension your chain as it wears and stretched, just leave the axel loose while you are working out the chain length as it will help working it out. Unravel the chain and roll it out around the sprockets on the bike as you would apply any chain which is cut to length. Once you have the chain unraveled you will notice an overlap where the chain is to join.
We want to make mention of the single most important part of any set of handlebars which is the bar pad, these are either the square pad for taper bars or the round bar pad for the 7/8” bars. Over the years we have personally seen what can happen to a jaw, face and your teeth when bare metal comes in contact with your head so save yourself a lot of pain and medical costs and always run a bar pad! All decent handlebars are sold with a free bar pad so there are no excuses!
Dirt Bike Grips on all dirt bikes with a twister throttle apart from 50cc kids bikes like the Yamaha PW50, Honda QR50, Honda CRF50 for example will all take the one size hand grips, quad bikes with a thumb throttle may require a different set of grips due to the fact they don’t have a twister throttle.
There are two sizes of handlebars which pretty much cover every dirt bike since the beginning of time:
- 7/8”: AKA two piece bars, 22.2mm bars, bars with a cross brace. This size was traditionally the standard for all motocross bikes as the technology for tapered bars was not around until the mid to late 90’s and when it was introduced they were quite expensive.
- Fat bars: AKA tapered bars, 28mm bars, 1 1/8”, oversized bars. Are the newer technology featuring a handlebar without a cross brace to allow for some flex and more rider comfort, but to increase the strength the bars taper up to be thicker at the clamping point.
- Twin walls: Just to make it tricky a third style of bar was introduced being a twin wall handlebar, the simplest way to describe these are a fat bar with a cross brace which are still 1 1/8” at the clamping point.
The crossbar was there for added strength of the handlebars but as technology became better the opinion was the crossbar made for a very rigid feel and the rider would fatigue quicker.
Basically there are just two types of handlebars, the 7/8" bars (identified by their cross brace across the middle of the bars) and 1 1/8" bars also called fatbars or tapered bars (a fatter bar through the length of the bar with no cross brace across the middle).
Either bars can be fitted to your bike, the only issue is the mounts that the bars sit in as each type of bar has a different thickness at this point.
If you have 7/8" bars on your bike right now the mounts you have will fit this type/thickness of bar. If you want 1 1/8" (fat or tapered bars) you will need to purchase a bar mount that converts the mount you have to suit or replace the mounts you have to suit your new bars. The same rules apply if you have 1 1/18" bars and want to fit 7/8" bars to the bike.
The only exception to this rule is the Twin Wall bar which is a fat bar with a cross brace which is designed to offer premium strength.
Handlebar Width:
For any dirt bike 125cc and above the standard handlebar width is approximately 800mm, if a set of bars has the word Mini in the title, it has been designed to fit 65cc, 85cc, 100cc and 150cc 4 strokes (mini race bikes). These have an overall bar width of around 775mm.
Some handlebars come with markings on the ends to allow riders to trim some width off the ends of the handlebars to suit different riding styles.
Providing you have the matching bar clamp sizing you can put wide bars on a mini bike and also mini bars on a full sized bike if you are desperate to go for a ride and can't find the bars you would normally run. Just bear in mind the geometry and ergonomics of the bike will be slightly off and may feel awkward for the rider.
Check out Dirt Bike Handlebars and Handlebar Clamps here at MXstore.
There are a number of styles of bar clamps available on the market to suit a number of different applications depending on your needs.
If you are changing size of handlebars you will need some form of adaptor clamp to accommodate the different size, you can either purchase adaptor clamps which bolt into your existing bar clamps but this will also raise your bar height. Different makes and models of bikes have slightly different spacing for the bolts so we recommend checking what your bikes dimensions are before making a purchase.
Another option is the bolt through clamp which replaces the entire bar clamp, first you have to remove the original clamps from the top triple clamp and replace them with the new product. The benefit of this being you can choose weather you want the bar height raised or not as they come in a variety of sizes, they also look neater on the bike but again when purchasing check the fitment as some of the triple clamp bolts are thicker than others so not every clamp will fit every bike!
One part of your bike which can make or break the overall ergonomics and feel of the machine, even where you position your bars will affect how the bike feels. Although you will eventually get used to whatever setup you have, riding will be a lot easier when you choose set of bars which are suitable for your height and the style of riding you are doing!
There are a number of different contributing factors which will give you the right bar height and angle you are looking for, the first thing you can do is check the pitch the bars are set to. Whether your bike is new or second-hand chances are that you could feel more comfortable rolling the bars either forward or back in the bar mounts.
An easy way to establish a starting point is to first set the bars in a neutral position, to do this simply align point “C” (rise) up to be the same angle as the bikes front forks. This will give you a nice balance of steering comfort and also overall bar height and is known as the neutral bar position.
The Sweep “E” and also the height “B” also contributes to the overall height of your bars as they are set to an angle rolling the bars forward and back will turn the ends of the bars up or down slightly.
If you are a taller rider you may want more room and bar height so running them slightly forward from the neutral position may feel better and if you are shorter it may be more comfortable to roll them back to lower the bar height and increase the sweep so the controls are closer to the rider.

Every single motorbike which has ever been created has a set of Dirt Bike Handlebars, the modern day Japanese and European dirt bike has only ever had 2 sizing options to choose from yet somehow we are asked countless times every single day which handlebars will suit their bike.
The more questions we have answered over time we realised that although the fundamentals of handlebar fitment are very basic there are many different options available for handlebars, clamps and accessories to consider when setting your bike up to make it feel just right for your riding style.
